St Ursula’s College, with its classic Queensland architecture, is a landmark in Yeppoon and is just a short walk from the beach. Students enjoy the pleasant climate as well as being close to the beach and the town centre.
Boarding House – Yumba-Gy You
Our Boarding House provides comfortable accommodation for students. The space is designed to encourage communal living and social interaction but also caters for students’ needs for privacy and a quiet place to study
Presentation Information Learning Centre
The Presentation Information and Learning Centre (Library) and the availability of technology throughout the College provide students with a comfortable learning environment in which they can access current information and resources via the internet.
Arts & Hospitality
Modern facilities including the Visual Art Centre, Commercial kitchens and a Performing Arts centre provide excellent learning spaces for the “Arts”.
The Music, Dance and Drama facility, the Ballygriffin Cultural Centre, incorporates a stage, music tuition rooms, sprung dance floor, band practice area and a catering facility.
The McGrath Centre, for Home Economics has 2 fully equipped commercial kitchens used for Hospitality classes.
St Ursula’s College has chosen not to provide laptops/netbooks/ipads to individual students or year groups but instead to purchase computers and Tablets of a higher standard and install them throughout the College. Recent upgrades to our network and internet service have us prepared for future trends in technology.
Laptops are located in classrooms and throughout specialist areas. There is also a number of laptops that are available for loan to students if they are needed. These can be borrowed overnight from the Library.
St Ursula’s College aims to provide students with the best opportunities in their future workplaces by teaching with the latest Industry Standard software for subjects such as Technology and Graphics.
Desktops and laptops are all networked and provide secure storage of students’ files which can be accessed around the College. All of the laptops are also connected the network by Wireless technology allowing flexibility of access throughout the College.
In the Boarding College, rooms have a data connection to enable all students to access the Internet on their own laptop, at allocated times.
Computer laboratories are open for students’ use;
- before school Monday to Friday from 7.30am to 8.25am;
- at lunch time Monday to Friday;
- after school Monday to Thursday from 3pm to 5pm;
- Friday afternoon from 3pm to 4pm; and on weekends by demand.
Comfortable air-conditioned classrooms are surrounded by tropical gardens.
The Masterplan provides direction for the development of buildings and facilities over the next 5-10 years.
Immediate plans include an architecturally designed Senior Precinct and adjacent green space.
