St Ursula’s College, Yeppoon, performed their 2023 production, The Addams Family – A New Musical, to the young and young at heart during the weekend of 2-3 June 2023.
Students from local schools view the special 10am performance alongside residents of Sunset Ridge Aged Care facility, with all the fan-favourite Addams Family characters taking to the stage in the two-hour production.
The cast and crew reassembled for Friday evening’s performance, with the College’s Ballygriffin Cultural Centre transformed into The Addams Family’s spooky setting.
St Ursula’s College Head of Arts and Instrumental Music, Ms Shannon du Plessis, said the musical provided plenty of laughs for audiences of any age.
“The Addams Family – A New Musical features an original story and follows a grown-up Wednesday Addams – who has fallen in love with a sweet, smart young man from a respectable family – as she begs her father, Gomez, not to tell her mother, Morticia,” Ms du Plessis said.
“During the performance, the whole Addams family comes together and hosts a dinner for Wednesday’s ‘normal’ boyfriend and his parents which, as you can imagine, is anything but ordinary,” said Ms du Plessis.
“The production featured great lighting special effects and ghoulish make-up and costumes,” said Ms du Plessis.
“The cast rehearsed diligently for five months and were very excited to bring The Addams Family to life in Yeppoon with this production.”
Saturday evening’s performance was sold out, with several attendees returning to view the musical a second time after enjoying Friday night’s show.
